Peanut Rempeyek

In that afternoon, when I watched a series of drama Korean in my family room, I heard a man shouted “Peyek, peyek, peyek, peyek”.

His voice was interest me to go out my home and looked him. He was old man. He used bicycle  with a big basket in back of his bicycle. I called him “ Mang, come here”. Then he went to in front of my home. One packet of rempeyek was Rp. 10000. I bought one packet to accompany me watched drama Korean. Its so nice.
Have you ever eating rempeyek guys? Rempeyek that I bought with an old man was peanut rempeyek.  A Indonesian peanut snack which is delicious as a snack with your operative as well as a small accomplishment with your meal. It looks like a small thin "cookie" and is prepared much in the same way as American pancakes. As I know rempeyek came from Java, but I don’t know where exactly it came from.
Me and my mom often make peanut rempeyek when Lebaran day will be come.
Do you want to try? Here is the recipe of making Peanut rempeyek.
Ingredients
200 gr. Rice Flour ½ Tsp. Baking powder 250 ml. Coconut milk ½ Tsp. Coriander (ground) ½ Tsp. Salt 1 Clove Garlic (chopped) Pinch of Cummins (ground)
Pinch of Turmeric (ground) 1 Candle Nut (grated) 100 gr. Raw Peanuts  Oil for frying

Steps
Mix the Rice flour with baking powder and coconut milk, then add Coriander, Cummins, Turmeric, Garlic and Candle nut. Mix well. Now add the slightly crushed Peanuts and Stir well. This will give you a slightly runny batter mix. Heat oil in shallow pan and fry batter by the tablespoon.  Drain on absorbent paper.

*when I was senior high school my classmates gave me rempeyek but it was not peanut rempeyek, it was spinach rempeyek. So we can make variation of rempeyek base on our appetite, such put spinach or small fish maybe.
Happy cooking
